Since 1921, Booksellers NZ has been the trade association representing over 70% of New Zealand booksellers, including independents and chain stores. Some of our key services include Booksellers Tokens, electronic Gift Cards, the weekly industry e-newsletter The Read and much much more.
The handbook below provides a wide overview of our services and benefits from marketing help to events management, and also outlines the support Booksellers NZ offers our members in terms of representation and advocacy.
Membership fee is based on stores turnover* per annum and is invoiced yearly on the 1 April and covers a full year from 1 April to 31 March.
If your stores turnover is greater than $250,000 the yearly fee is $643.96 plus GST ($740.55 incl. GST) or pay over 12 months at $53.66 ex GST ($61.72 incl. GST).
If your stores turnover is less than $250,000 the yearly fee is $443.96 plus GST ($510.55 incl. GST) or pay over 12 months at $36.99 ex GST ($42.55 incl. GST).
(*Note: turnover is based on sales of new, used, remainder, and audio books; online book sales; sales at off-premises events; gift tokens; magazines; and calendars, and does not include lotto; toys and gift sales and is for the previous financial year, if you are new store then you will be invoiced at the lower level in the first year and will be assessed the following year.)
The membership fee is applicable on a pro rata basis if you join part way through the year.
