Bookstores benefits and fees

All New Zealand bookshops are welcome to join Booksellers NZ, the book trade's industry association.

Our current members range from major retail chains to small independent bookshops and encompass campus, second-hand and online retailers.

Members of Booksellers NZ enjoy a wide range of services along with  exciting promotional activities designed to assist your business, boost book sales and raise the profile of books and reading.

Only bookshops that are members of Booksellers NZ are able to sell and redeem Booksellers Tokens.

 
Membership Fees:
 
Membership fee is based on stores turnover* per annum and is invoiced yearly on the 1 April and covers a full year from 1 April to 31 March.
 
If your stores turnover is greater than $250,000 the yearly fee is $643.96 plus GST ($740.55 incl. GST) or pay over 12 months at $53.66 ex GST ($61.72 incl. GST).

If your stores turnover is less than $250,000 the yearly fee is $443.96 plus GST ($510.55 incl. GST) or pay over 12 months at $36.99 ex GST ($42.55 incl. GST).
 
(*Note: turnover is based on sales of new, used, remainder, and audio books; online book sales; sales at off-premises events; gift tokens; magazines; and calendars, and does not include lotto; toys and gift sales and is for the previous financial year, if you are new store then you will be invoiced at the lower level in the first year and will be assessed the following year.)
 
The membership fee is applicable on a pro rata basis if you join part way through the year.
